White Fillings
There are many techniques available to restore a broken or decayed tooth using a tooth coloured filling material. Here at the 76dental we use both composite and porcelain restorations. Both these filling materials are matched to your own tooth colour. They are bonded by a special adhesive to your tooth, adding to the retention of the filling and sealing the tooth provided there is enough tooth enamel remaining.
Veneers
A veneer is a very fine facing made of porcelain which is bonded onto your own natural tooth. The primary function is to improve the appearance and they can involve very little preparation of your own natural tooth. Veneers can be used in cases where the teeth are chipped, discoloured or crowded. They are most frequently used on your upper front teeth.
Crowns
A crown is a covering placed over the top of your own natural tooth to restore it for both function and aesthetics. Crowns will greatly enhance the appearance of heavily filled, chipped, discoloured or irregularly shaped teeth.
Bridges
A bridge is used as a permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth. There are two main types: Adhesive or conventional. They are both aesthetic and functional, restoring your natural bite and preventing unwanted movement of the adjacent teeth and over eruption of the opposing tooth. The conventional type involves preparing the adjacent teeth, which is the preferred option in cases where there are already heavily restored back teeth. The adhesive bridge option does not require any preparation and hence are very conservative for replacement of missing front teeth.
Dental implants
Dental implants replace missing teeth. They consist of a post which is planted into the jaw bone and acts like the root of a natural tooth. Onto this a crown or bridge or denture is attached. They can replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth.
There are two stages to implant procedures. Firstly the implant is placed into the jaw. Following healing the second stage is placement of the artificial teeth.
Some people are never able to tolerate removable dentures however hard they and their dentist try. Implants are sometimes an excellent alternative as they keep the denture stable. People do not see the implants; they just see the natural smile. They are very successful long term but they are not suitable for all patients.
Please feel free to contact our reception team to book an implant assessment appointment.
We highly recommend to all our implant patients that they see our hygienist every 3 months for maintenance to improve the longevity of their implants. Our hygienist has highly specialised instruments for the cleaning and maintenance of dental implants.
